Tuberculosis (TB)
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you do not have a a tissue, couch into your upper sleeve.
Wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.
Get screened at your nearest clinic regularly.
Open your windows everyday for some fresh air and ventilation.
If you use public transport, keep the windows open in taxis, busses and trains.
HIV/AIDS/STDs
Always use condoms when you have vaginal and anal sex
Don't share needles for shooting drugs, piercings or tattoos
Get tested regularly
Limit your numbers of sexual partners
Be honest with your sexual partner. Get tested together before sexual intercourse. If one person in the relationship is HIV positive, special precautions need to take place in order for the other partner involved not to get HIV/AIDS. Your doctor will assist with the correct medication.
Hypertension
"High blood pressure"
Exercise regularly (2-4 times a week for 30-60 minutes a session)
Eat a healthy diet
Stop smoking
Cut down on salt
Limit amount of alcohol intake
In case of a fire
Have a family escape plan and a meeting point
Stay close to the floor and crawl to safety (smoke and heat rise, which means that it will be easier to breathe if you are close to the floor)
Close doors to separate yourself from the fire and smoke
Check closed doors by touching them, if the door is hot, DO NOT open it as the fire is close. If the door is cold, open it to see where the fire is to plan escape
If your clothing catches fire "STOP, DROP and ROLL" your body on the ground
Hygiene
Wash your hands regularly
Brush your teeth at least twice a day
Wash your entire body at least once a day (if you do not have a shower or bath use a bucket with soap and warm water to clean every area of your body with a cloth)
Healthy diet: lean meats (eg. chicken breasts), eggs, fruit and vegetables
Make sure to dry between toes and hidden surfaces (behind the ears) as these are areas prone to fungus and infections
